Shakewell Seattle Concert reviews
Third Time's the Charm!
"Third time experiencing Shakewell, who electrified the House of Blues stage on All Hallow's Eve and blew off the roof! Uncertain about what to anticipate due to the wide-ranging eclecticism of his latest album The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, Gary's lead guitar brilliance shone through in the live performance! The early standout 'When My Train Pulls In' dispelled any doubts about leaving his heavy blues roots behind. Yet, a cherished moment of the night was the soulful 'Please Come Home,' marked by a sharply clean Stratocaster solo and the smoothest falsetto he could muster! Gary mostly reserved his new tracks for later in the show (Grinder, The Healing), adding a touch of grit to them. Following a 105-minute set, Gary and his band reappeared for a fierce 30-minute encore, covering B.B. King's '3 O'Clock Blues' and his own 'Next Door Neighbor Blues,' showcasing some of his most intense soloing of the evening. The evening concluded with a haunting, Hendrix-inspired rendition of 'Third Stone From the Sun/If You Love Me Like You Say'! Make sure not to overlook Shakewell when he returns to town!"
